In the field of optical communication, the emerging technology known as Space Division Multiplexing (SDM) has attracted significant attention due to its potential to significantly increase transmission capacity. Among the various SDM fibers innovations, Multicore Fiber (MCF) stands out as one of the most promising, as it enables the simultaneous transmission of multiple channels within a single optical fiber. This paper delves into the intricate details of 2 linearly polarized-mode multicore fiber design with a standard fiber cladding diameter of 125 μm. It explores a novel approach that incorporates a two-ring layout and a double-cladding structure. The research revealed compelling results, with this innovative design demonstrating a remarkable reduction in intercore crosstalk (XT). Specifically, the paper demonstrates an impressive XT suppression of less than -60 dB/km for 8-core fibers and -35 dB/km for 10-core fibers at a wavelength of 1550 nm, making them exceptionally efficient for C-band utilization.
